New Library for Narellan Hope Christian School

Senator the Hon Ursula Stephens and Federal Candidate for Macarthur Nick Bleasdale today attended the official opening of the new library at Hope Christian School in Narellan, built as part of Federal Labor’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).

Hope Christian School received $850,000 for a new library under the Primary School’s for the 21st Century element of BER and $75,000 for refurbishment under the National School Pride part of the program.

BER is a key element of the Gillard Labor Government’s $42 billion Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long-term.

Senator Stephens congratulated Hope Christian School on their new facilities and spoke of the benefit to both the school and local community.

“Hope Christian School has never had its own library and this has been a wonderful opportunity for the students to receive a state of the art facility to provide high quality Christian education,’ said Senator Stephens.

“It has been fantastic to see local principals, parents and tradespeople working together to deliver these important projects. Now that they are completed, teachers and students in our local schools will be teaching and learning in the 21st century facilities that they so richly deserve.”

“It’s great to see the Coalition supporting the BER stimulus investment, with former member Pat Farmer and Liberal Candidate Russell Matheson attending the opening.”

The $1.28 billion National School Pride program has delivered funding to over 9 400 eligible schools in every state and territory for minor infrastructure and refurbishment.

The $14.1 billion Primary School’s for the 21st Century has delivered funding to over 7 900 eligible primary schools in every state and territory for major new infrastructure.

“It’s great to be here today to celebrate the opening of this new library and to witness first hand, the impact this has had on this school and our local community,” said Mr Bleasdale.

“The library is not only a real benefit to the school, it has also employed local trades people, which is what we strived to achieve through BER and is the essence of the Economic Stimulus Plan.”
